  3. There will be a parkour park on Anders Hill

Anders Hill in a new role – low walls, pipes and ladders

The intersection of Ślężna and Petrusewicza streets - the first elevation of Anders Hill - is the place where the first official parkour park in Wrocław will be built. It will be the second facility of this kind in Poland after Gdańsk.

"It is designed as a place where beginners, more experienced participants and professionals can practice parkour. The park will be provided with low walls, pipes and ladders, which will resemble city obstacles such as trees. In addition, it will be possible to practice other power sports there", states Artur Młynarczyk, President of the Parkour Wroclaw sports club.

The City Sports Square project is implemented as a part of the Wroclaw Citizens Budget 2013. 2,000 persons voted for this project.

"This shows how popular this place can become. If everything goes as planned, the City Sports Square will begin to function before the end of this year. We are planning to expand it next year, and we want to utilise funds from WCB", adds Artur Młynarczyk.

The Administration of City Green Areas has just called for a tender for the contractor of the first stage of construction of the square. Bids can be submitted by the 21st of March. "Among others, the contractor will have to provide the square with sports equipment: a pipe park and concrete high and low walls, with everything placed on a synthetic surface", says Małgorzata Szafran from the Press Office of the city council. "Works should be completed by the end of July this year", she adds.

Drivers do not have to worry about a car park near Anders Hill. "The adjacent car park is situated outside the borders of the study", explains Małgorzata Szafran. That's how the best do it!

Parkour

Parkour is a form of physical activity that came into being in France in 1998 and is based on overcoming various obstacles, such as low walls, benches or shrubs, in a spectacular way. A person practicing parkour is called a traceur. Evolutions performed by professionals can be seen in Yamakasi – a hit film by Luc Besson. In Wroclaw, parkour becomes increasingly popular; it is practiced regularly by over 100 persons and occasionally even by 1,000 persons. Since 2005, a parkour sports club has functioned in Wrocław.
