The parents of the children attending self-government kindergartens in Wroclaw do not have to worry that there will be no more money for extra classes such as foreign language or rhythmicity, which are being paid for by the city hall since October last year. The city hall will donate money for such classes in the first term of this year.
"In the first term of 2014 we plan to donate about 5 million zlotys for the extra classes in kindergartens," informs Jacek Grabowski, the director of the Faculty of Finances and Educational Infrastructure of the Department of Education of the City Hall (Wydział Finansów i Infrastruktury Oświatowej w Departamencie Edukacji).
Foreign language classes, mostly English, as well as music and dance (rhythmicity) classes are preferred. "But there is no obligation. If parents decide that they prefer German language rather than English or sports classes, such as judo or tennis, instead of rhythmicity, nobody would oppose," emphasises Anna Bytońska from the press office of the Municipal Office (Urząd Miejski).
Let's remind that according to new provisions, since September 2013 parents could not pay for extra classes, although the majority of them would like to have such a possibility. There was a concern that children would not learn English at kindergartens or participate in rhythmicity classes.
So the city hall paid for them in October from its budget. The city hall's employees ensure that the extra classes for preschoolers will also be financed in the new school year 2014/2015. But the amount of the money spent will be determined at a later date.
