On Sunday afternoon, an ambulance which will provide medicines from Wroclaw residents to the Ukraine left from the Nankier square near the Greek Catholic cathedral. The medicines are for the people injured during clashes with the police at Kiev's Maidan.
"There were many Lviv residents, now they return from Kiev. Among them there are people who need medical care", says Rafał Dutkiewicz, the President of Wroclaw. "We ship those medicines which we were asked for, to the Ukraine: antibiotics, pain-killers, dressing materials. They will go to one of the Lviv hospitals.
The transport, worth about 50 thousand zlotys, will be financed by the City.
Money collection for the Ukrainians who suffered during the protests against the government is still in progress. We are also looking for people who would take home the injured from Kiev, Lviv and other Ukrainian cities for the time of convalescence. So far, 40 residents of Wroclaw signed up.
"In Ukraine, there was a breakthrough, and I hope that we will no longer receive bad information from there. We are ready to continue with help for the Ukrainians. Wroclaw hospitals will admit more casualties, if required", declares the President of Wroclaw.
